Continuing our focus on big fashion trends for 2026, this time we look at the best footwear to buy.
We predict that footwear for 2026 will be split between “Hard-Tech” utility and “Soft-Era” vintage.
2026 Footwear Trends
1. The “Jazz-Shoe” Sneaker
Move over chunky “Dad” shoes. The new “It-Sneaker” is slim, low-profile, and almost balletic.
- Key Brands: Onitsuka Tiger, Adidas (slim silhouettes), and Prada.
- Look For: Satin finishes, ribbon laces, and bright pops of cherry red or banana yellow.
2. High-Vamp Heels & Slingbacks
The “High-Vamp” (where the leather comes up higher on the foot) is replacing the standard pump. It feels more architectural and modest.
- Style Tip: Pointed toes are essential here to elongate the leg when wearing those low-rise trousers.
3. “Practical Glass” (Transparent Shoes)
PVC and transparent materials are making a comeback, but in a functional way—think “puddle-proof” sandals and boots that can handle the Australian elements (and look cool with bright socks).
4. Refined Thongs & T-Straps
- The Heeled Thong: A minimalist leather flip-flop with a kitten heel. It’s the “Sydney Night Out” shoe of 2026. St Agni has a great version of this style.
- T-Strap Mary Janes: A vintage ’50s shape updated with chunky soles or metallic leathers.
The preference remains for comfort but with and increasingly refined style.
