PARIS Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024

Haute Couture takes fashion to another level.

The most recent collections on the Paris Haute Couture runway displaying the peak of the craft.

Alaïa’ creations were made from a single thread of merino wool.

Meanwhile, Schiaparelli and Robert Wun also highlight the industries creativity, from Valentino, learn how to master colour.

For beauty see Miss Sohee and Armani Prive’.

Then there is the diversity, see Gaurav Gupta, and Georges Hobekia,

Viktor and Rolfe and Maison Margiela bought the drama and for sheer artistry no one beat Simone Rocha for John Paul Gaultier.

From this the Paris Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 runway here is what to look out for.

rounded shoulders

Look out for the rounded drop shoulder.

We saw this shoulder in the Balmain and Dries Von Noten Fall 2022 Ready To Wear collections.

Valentino played with it in 2023.

Now Daniel Roseberry’ latest Schiaparelli collection features it extensively.

Strong silhouettes

Hips and busts are being emphasised.

While there was a dearth of plus size models in Paris, the Schiaparelli collection, Simone Rocha collection for John Paul Gaultier, Viktor and Rolfe, Miss Sohee and most extremely the John Galliano collection for Maison Margiela embraced a strong silhouette with wasp waists, rounded hips and busts displayed.

In the future expect to be defining your silhouette more sharply.

Embellish, embellish, embellish

Miss Sohee sent the perfect collection of Southern Belle style debutante dresses down the runway.

They were not only in beautiful colours they also featured stunning embellishment.

Armani Prive’ eschewed sleek tailoring for dreamy dresses with flounces and delicate statement making embellishment.

Other designers with gorgeously embellished gowns were Georges Hobekia and Gaurav Gupta, who along with Zuhair Murad also showed great craft with swathes of pleating and draping.

Kim Jones for Fendi ombre style, and Robert Wun (who uses crystal drops) offered stunning crystal embellished looks.

add a rose

Floral motifs were everywhere on the runway, particularly the rose.

Zimmerman bought us the floral motif as decoration in 2023 and this trend is now everywhere.

Simone Rochas’ models carried (metal) single stem roses.

Balmain took inspiration from Daniel Roseberry with Naomi Campbell’s final runway look featuring a gold spray of flowers coming out from the waist.

This collection’s looks also featuring the rose.

While the Ellie Saab’s collection is named “A Desert Rose.”

Jewellery

The statement necklace is coming back.

Appearing for Armani Prive’ were models wearing stunning bejewelled amulet style necklace and multi strand coloured gem necklaces.

Schiaparelli models wore large rounded and bejewelled chocker style neck pieces.

Creating a 20’s statuesque look, Dior added double strand chockers of large pearls. Other looks featured embellished necklines.

At Maison Margiela, models wore a high neck breast plate that looks like porcelain but is made from leather.

Ear cuffs remain on trend.

Eyewear made at statement on the Fendi runway.

Beauty

Making a statement that will undoubtedly become a trend was Pat McGrath’s porcelain doll makeup created for the Maison Margiela runway.
