You are not imagining it; checks are everywhere for Winter.

Checks have evolved beyond the tartan and Argyle styles of your youth.

This winter there are fun and flirty and bold and bright versions as well as traditional black and white checks to explore.

Whether a bold large check has caught your eye or something small and subtle. Here are our tips for how to wear them.

BOLD CHECKS

Bold checks work well when used in a statement jacket.

Wear the jacket with a plain pant or create a total head to toe look that will not to be missed.

We are obessed with the Vivienne Westwood tartan which comes as a pant suit and in a mini skirt this season.

SMALL AND SUBTLE

Small checks are very stylish when used in a pant or shirt.

A small check is perfect when used in a mini dress or maxi skirt.

OUTERWEAR

A check used for a full-length Winter coat creates a polished look when worn over a monochrome outfit.

Choose a bright print for added impact.

To bring a look together select colours that appear in the check so that the check colours are echoed in your outfit including your footwear, handbag or other accessories such as a scarf, gloves, and hat.

THE CLASSICS

Classic checks are tartans and of course include the Burberry check. Wearing these checks will elevate your workwear.

Do not dismiss the Argyle check. It makes for a classic Winter staple that you will wear year after year.
