Jude confessed that she does not like shopping. To make the shopping experience less painful I started by getting to know Jude, her preferences, and tastes. I then developed mood boards for her. Jude’s response to the mood boards gave me get a good appreciation of her preferred aesthetic.
We met to review her wardrobe, which gave me the opportunity to understand the gaps before we went shopping. Our shopping adventure focused on introducing Jude to brands that she could return to repeatedly. These brands proved to be a hit. Not only did they reflect Jude’s aesthetic, but they also looked great on her, and they met her brief by only requiring low maintenance to care for them.
“I’ve been meaning to get some professional help with my wardrobe for years. I haven’t taken the time to stop and think about what my wardrobe needed for far too long. I knew it needed updating, and I certainly knew that after working from home during COVID lockdown I was no longer willing to wear clothes that weren’t comfortable!
Linda sent me some homework to do prior to our meeting, which allowed me to think through some thought-provoking questions in my own time.I found the mood boards really helped me clarify my thinking and update Linda with my personal preferences. At my home, Linda quickly discerned gaps in my wardrobe, which was useful knowledge prior to our shopping trip.
I don’t enjoy shopping, as in the past I have wasted many hours and only rarely found clothes that I like which fit me well, particularly due to my height. However, when Linda took me shopping, she pulled out clothes that I had only moments before brushed past and once I tried them on I loved them, and indeed bought them.
I appreciate that Linda followed my brief to the letter. She showed me quality clothing that is comfortable, looks good and is easy to care for (no ironing or dry cleaning). I now have several new pieces that I love and will wear for many seasons, and I am already looking forward to our next shopping expedition. I can’t remember ever looking forward to going shopping!”
