Masterclass in evolving your style

The passing of Queen Elizabeth II has prompted much commentary on her style.

Her majesty offered during her lifetime a masterclass in evolving your style.

In her youth her style reflected the fashion of the time and that she had access to experienced designers.

Those designers emphasised her waist and petite frame with elegant skirts that stopped below her knee.

Her role as a monarch and as a working mother saw her embrace practical two-piece suits for daywear.

For the evening column style dresses without fitted waists started emerging. All the better to enable her majesty to get through the banquets she attended.

As she aged the bright monochrome looks emerged. There was no colour too vibrant.

Along the way Queen Elizabeth II also offered a masterclass in the art of sartorial diplomacy. Her jewellery carefully selected for each occasion made consideration of the details mandatory when looking at what she wore.

Many argue we will never see her like again.

I disagree.

Stylish women the world over make choices that make a statement and evolve their style daily, if less visibly.

The visibility of Queen Elizabeth II is the difference.

She offered us a masterclass in evolving your style from which we can continue to learn.

Rest in peace.
