Autumn Style outerwear is quilted this season.
Quilted outerwear, boxy suits and faux fur are the trends to look out for.
The quilted looks come in a variety of styles from the traditional puffer through to full length coats. If it is a coat you are after, avoid feeling like the ‘michelin man’ by selecting one with more subtle quilting than a traditional puffer. Below is an example from Curate by Trelise Cooper.
As well as the traditional colours, this season quilted outerwear comes in patterned fabrics. Unless you are under 30, steer clear of the colours favoured by Queen Elizabeth II – kahki green, tan and beige.
Boxy suits are back. The Autumn Style silhouette is baggy and relaxed with highly shruggable shoulders. Wear your oversized jacket with straight legged pants or maxi skirt. Try this style in a bright colour or check. If you are worried about the suit dating choose a classic black and white herringbone.
The faux fur options get better every season. This year your will find beautiful bright cropped styles as well as faux shearling aviator style jackets. Pick one in your favourite colour, from a quality brand in a cut of jacket or coat you love. This will see you wearing it season after season.
