Autumn is the perfect time to visit Bowral New South Wales in the heart of the Southern Highlands.
You will need more than a day to enjoy the shopping mecca that is Bowral.
Start on Bowral’s delightfully named main street – Bong Bong Street but make sure you do not miss the arcades and side streets.
In Boolwey Street which runs off Bong Bong look out for Hem Store Bowral which offers mid-priced Australia, New Zealand and overseas designers. Expect to find Mela Purdie, Johnny Was, Zoe Kratzman, and Verge together with European brands such a Getzus.
If it’s shoes you are after on the main street head to Nina Leon Shoes. Nina Leon offers perfect boots for tramping in the highlands. Over the road try Gerry’s cafe’. The absolutely gorgeous Sue and Celeste run Gerry’s. As well as ice cream Gerry’s is a flower café. So, you can get beautiful fresh flowers as well as a terrific cup of coffee and a nice meal. Try the mushroom or pumpkin soup which are scrumptious as is the apple strudel.
On Saturday, the shopping mecca that is Bowral will be thrumming. Some of the highlights to look out are Dirty Janes for vintage which is located in Banyette Street. For art make sure you visit the Milk Factory Gallery & Exhibition in Station Street.
Back to the fashion as you head up the hill from Dirty Janes along Bong Bong look out for Arkke which offers very stylish and classic pieces from Australia and overseas. A little further on is Cloth + General which is the most beautifully curated shop of clothes you will find in Bowral. Call into Creative & Co for fun and affordable fashion. If you are looking for the brands you know and love men and women are well served in Bowral. The main street boasts brands that you might expect to find in a major shopping centre think for example of Trenery, Taking Shape, Blue Illusion, Gazman, and Sportscraft Men. Bowral also has excellent book, cooking and homewares stores including Barbara’s Storehouse. There are also good vintage and second-hand fashion boutiques in which to rummage.
