Styling monochrome looks

Making one colour work

One of the trends of the moment is monochrome looks. That is being clothed head to toe in one colour.

To date bright colours dominated the looks. The Autumn/Fall trend is to more subtle greys, and camel colours.

Styling in monochrome may be something you have done when wearing a dress but is works equally well with separates. To create a great monochrome looks try varying the lengths of your tops and jackets. Put a turtleneck top under a jacket or coat. Alternatively try a bralette under a jacket. Match the colour of your tights to the dress and shoe for a put together look.

Monochrome separates work equally well as pants or skirts. If layering tops, jackets and coats pick different texture fabrics to create interest.

Any colour works in monochrome. Choose colours that suit you and then do not be afraid to just wear that colour. Another way to create interest with your look is to wear varying shades of the same colour.

Monochrome is a terrific option for creating a streamlined look that stands out from the crowd.
