Fantastic street style meets a sophisticated Scandi aesthetic
Held at the beginning of Februar,y Copenhagen Fashion Week focusses on the Fall 2022 Season.
Australians have long admired and worn the clothes of Scandi fashion designers. The relaxed and straightforward clothes of many of the Scandinavian designers appeal to our sensibilities. The Scandi brands make clothes that are very wearable in Australia. The choice and weight of the of fabrics used is often better suited to the lifestyles of those of us that live in Australia’s colder climes than those preferred by Australian designers based on the coast.
The Scandinavian Street style is also delicious and interesting. This year was no exception.
#CPFW 2022
Brands featured during #cphfw 2022 that may be familiar to you include, Gestuz and Day Birger et Mikkelsen, which you can find in Canberra at Honeysuckle and Lace. Other familiar names on the runway were Baum und Pferdgarten, and By Malene Birger. The latter will be in store at Sissa Sorella Collection (Campbell Store) this year. If these names are a bit foreign, then Marimekko and Ganni were there as well.
For lovers of By Malene Birger the palette was neutral for the beautifully tailored clothes.
The brand Munthe offered relaxed oversized pieces – some in the brightest of blues. Bright colours were also seen in the Copenhagen streets during the week.
When offered, the suiting on the runways was oversized with a relaxed fit.
Ganni’s most oft used accent colour was neon yellow. This was also the choice of Stine Goya whose pieces came in various neon shades and lilac. Baum und Pferdgarten sent models down the runway in bright orange either head to toe or they wore tights this colour. This Autumn could be the time to try one colour head to toe but best make it bright. Street style brand Soulland’s palette was primarily neutrals but they also used orange when they sent colour down the runway.
Checks featured particularly on the Henrik Vibskov and Baum und Pferdgarten runways. Think Zambesi’s summer collection this year. We can expect to see more checks in future Australian collections.
Next stop New York Fashion Week! See you on the runway.
