work and play
While Perth has been sweltering with record 40 degree heat for days on end, inland on the east coast the have been days on end of grey skies.
This has caused a real rethink of my summer mood board. This summer has been less about heading to the beach and more about capri pants and cardies.
As we head into February with more rain and grey skies predicted to be on the way, dresses with a bit of cover and longer sleeves as well as heavier fabric weights all appeal. Layering not my favourite style but it makes sense when it gets cool most evenings.
This is a good time to check out some New Zealand designers whose summer styles are tailored made for cooler summer days and nights that Australia is traditionally used to. Some favourists include Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, and Trelise Cooper. One in particular, Taylor Boutique has terrific layering pieces perfect for those of you experiencing a summer on the cooler side.
The days remain long and so there is plenty of opportunity to swap your working from home style for something a bit more elevated in the evening. High waisted wide leg pants with a tailored cropped top or jacket are perfect.
Here are my current mood board inspirations. I added the Karen Walker sunnies, because while the sun and blue skies may have been a litte elusive, why not.
Here is hoping the weather forecasters may have got it wrong and we get some warm February days. Enjoy!
