Dressing for a summer roadtrip?
21 Dec 2021

ideas for staying Stylish

For many of us travelling this summer holidays will be in the car. While a vision of Grace Kelly style outfits while driving the Amalfi coast is what you might aspire to – when it comes to a driving holiday Australian style temperatures of over 40 degrees require something quite different.

The wet Spring/Summer of 2021 is also making dressing for the driving holiday a challenge, especially if you are tired of your working from home looks.

To keep cool and comfy as well as stylish try a colourful maxi dress with a loose-fitting waist. It can be belted if you need to dress it up. A maxi dress worn with trainers or a sandal can get you through anything a road trip throws your way, particularly the unrelenting sunshine that may be beating down as you drive.

Add lightweight coloured beads for a fresh look that works in the roadside dining settings you find yourself in.

A great alternative is capri pants. Pick a colour like navy blue which hides most stains and team it with an oversized shirt. If you are lucky enough to stop off for a swim along the way the shirt will be a great cover up piece.

Sunnies and a hat are of course a must. Le Specs offer some terrific affordable and stylish options. When picking a hat make sure you get one with a wide brim, perfect to keep you protected if you need to stand outside at a testing station. Helen Kaminski has some beautiful, if less affordable options.

Enjoy your well-earned break and safe travels.
